How do extreme temperatures affect the range of my electric BMW?

Variations in temperatures can have an effect on the lithium-ion batteries in your BMW all-electric vehicle because batteries work best under moderate temperature conditions, and the batteries are also used to cool or heat the cabin to a comfortable level. Using the MyBMW app allows you to pre-set interior temperatures while a vehicle is charging, creating a comfortable environment for you and maximizing battery range.

Do I need special equipment to charge my BMW electrified vehicle?

Every BMW iX and i4 comes with BMW's brand new, fully portable Flexible Fast Charger. This unique piece of equipment is compatible with any 120- or 240-volt outlet to deliver optimized charging on the go. All-electric BMW owners can expect 0-100% charging in under 12 hours while connected to a 240-volt outlet.

For even faster charging, BMW all-electric vehicle owners can utilize the optional BMW Wallbox to achieve Level 2 Charging at 9.6 kW per hour. This weatherproof component can be installed either in your garage or outdoors and can power up your all-electric BMW in approximately 12 hours.

While powering up at public charging stations, no additional equipment is required. Every BMW all-electric vehicle utilizes the North American standard CCS for DC Fast Charging and J1772 for Level 2 charging. Stations can be found via the MyBMW app or by utilizing the built-in iDrive infotainment system.
